It was a cold night. A light November wind blows through the woods. But this did not stop the students from dressing their best and bravely walking to the long-awaited Cranberry and White incident.

On November 20th, Rider held a dance, which is a school tradition. The fascinating event encourages students to put on their best clothes and relax all night. After a year without having an extramarital affair, the dance party is a popular event. Although COVID-19 will still affect decisions made for the event, 100 students are allowed to bring foreign guests.

The Cavalla Room has become a blue and white winter wonderland. On both sides of the entrance are white trees, illuminated by soft blue light. A canopy made of white scarves and lights hangs gracefully above the dance floor.

Outside, a tent was set up, where Bon Temps Brass played jazz for the first hour. The students squeezed into the tent, and some danced with their partners. Others took pictures at the Balloon Arch. The excitement of the event is obvious. For some people, this is their first relationship in Rider.

Jenna Krauss, a second-year graphic design student, said: “It’s really fun. It’s definitely different to come back here. This is the first dance I have participated in since [high school] returned to school. It’s great to be back, and it feels like going on It’s the same with universities."

A highlight of the dance is the cupcakes and hot chocolate bars. A variety of toppings-including mint and whipped cream-topped the attendees' cups. After a short snack break, the students walked to the dance floor.

As DJ's start time gets closer, more and more students begin to join in. Excited students greeted each other, hugged and praised the appearance chosen by their friends. Although there is no dress code, many people choose cranberry or black clothing. Everywhere, people saw another gorgeous dress or suit.

DJs from DJs Available were hired for this event. There are mixed reviews of DJs, but this hasn't stopped anyone from dancing. As the line dance began to play, more and more people on the floor. Cupid shuffled almost everyone together. On the dance floor, it doesn't matter whether the person next door is a friend or not. Everyone was there with the same intention: have fun.

Senior film and television professional Tiffani Britton said: "This is the third time I have come to Cran and White. It is great to be back.... The energy is so great. You can say that everyone is happy to be here. Everyone is dressed up. Dress up. Great."

As the night continued, the energy on the floor began to rise. Happy laughter came from the sound of music. Friends dance to each other and encourage each other

When night falls, students, guests and staff say goodbye and talk about their fun. This tradition brought the Rider community together and created the conditions for another very successful Cranberry and White Affair.
