A stunning hidden winter garden opens in Birmingham, serving mulled wine and Sunday roasts to keep you warm and toast outside this holiday season.

Plough on Habern Avenue has transformed the outdoor terrace on its back into a drinking and dining place in a winter wonderland. You can see the complete conversion in the video above.

The new garden space will be open every day until February 2022.

The 120-cover garden at The Plough includes a new candlelight pavilion with sheepskin blankets, creating an Alpine-style festive atmosphere. A new flexible tent canopy was also installed in the previously unshielded table area.

Gorgeous white lanterns hung from the canopy of the tent, and glittering fairy lights wrapped around the tree trunk.

There are almost as many overhead heaters as there are flashing lights-helping bar customers to stay warm during winter nights.

If you feel cold, you can also use blankets and hot water bottles-if hot drinks are not enough.

The outdoor bar serves Steins of Hofmeister beer. You can also enjoy mulled wine, cider and strong hot chocolate.

Other holiday drinks include white chocolate and burnt orange, and coconut chai.

The food menu summarizes the comfort food season. Dishes include cod and sausage stew, bourguignon beef, and festive turkey and cranberry Cuban sandwiches.

And, of course, you can enjoy a hearty Sunday roast. Choose from roast beef or mushroom sirloin and zucchini Wellington, served with Yorkshire pudding, baked potatoes, cauliflower cheese, vegetables and gravy.

For entertainment, a DJ booth has also been installed, where guests can enjoy various songs from Christmas classics to disco. The Plough is a historic Harborne institution and one of the most popular bars in the city.

Adam Johnson, the co-owner of Plow, said: "After the mandatory closure last Christmas, we are very excited about this holiday and bring people back together in the safest way.

"This Christmas and New Year, we want to create something special in our garden.

"We started thinking about our plans in the summer, when we ordered a stretch tent.

"It comes from South Africa and now means that the entire garden is protected from rain. We are lucky that we have a lot of outdoor space and have invested in a lot of superheaters-we know that Covid will not disappear."

After the lockdown was lifted at the beginning of this year, The Plough invested £15,000 to transform their beer garden into a more secluded space with plenty of heaters-so you can sit in comfort while dining outdoors.

The bar owner revealed: “Everyone likes to be in the garden, but since Covid, people’s interest in outdoor dining has been incredible.

"Compared to indoors, gardens are usually always booked. In cold weather, this doesn't change much-we have heaters on most of our tables. We still encourage people to wrap the warmth, but we have Try to make it as comfortable as possible.

"Of course, now with the discovery of new variants of Omicron and concerns about it, our garden has become more important to ensure the safety of our diners.

"Although it has all the comforts of being indoors, you are still in the fresh air."

BrumWish 2021 aims to give thousands of Christmas gifts to young children in our cities in need-homeless, disadvantaged, cared for and homeless children.

This year’s appeal is greater and better than ever before-because we work with #Toys4Birmingham partners, including Thrive Together Birmingham, Birmingham Playcare Network, Edgbaston Foundation and Birmingham Forward Steps.

Also involved are the Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust, Barnardo's, Spurgeon's Children’s Charity, Sparkhill’s Springfield Project, São Paulo Community Development Trust and Your Local Pantry, which operates food centers in 12 locations in Birmingham and Black Country.

The three-day Donation Day event held in Edgbaston is now over and aims to accept new and near-new gifts and book donations.

You can also donate cash, which will go to funds held by charity partners to fill gaps or buy professional toys for children with additional needs. This is the link for donations.

Other new outdoor bar areas opened during the festival in Birmingham include Winterlandia in the city centre and Camp Luna in Digbeth Luna Springs.

The plow is open every day throughout the festival. Book through the website. Walk-in is also welcome.

The kitchen closes at 9.30 every night.

On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, the door of The Plough is open until 11pm, and there is a DJ playing in the garden.
