ROCKLAND — Author Barbara Walsh signs copies of her new children’s book, “The Lobster Lady: Maine’s 102-year-old Legend,” at the Maine Lobster Festival Friday, Aug. 5, in the Children’s Tent and then Saturday, Aug. 6, in the Rockland Historical Society’s Heritage Tent. The book is illustrated by Shelby J. Crouse.

“The Lobster Lady” is a true story about Ginny Oliver, the oldest lobster trapper in Maine, and maybe even the world. Oliver is expected to join Walsh on Saturday for a bit after she finishes her job as the parade’s grand marshal.

“Because of my journalism background, most of my books are non-fiction,” said Walsh, who is a Maine Monitor reporter. “I like writing stories about special Maine people like Ginny.”

“The Lobster Lady” is Walsh’s fifth children’s book. Her first, “Sammy in the Sky,” was illustrated by Jamie Wyeth.

The book is available on Amazon and in Sherman’s bookstores, the Kennebec Cabin Company (headquarters of the Maine Cabin Masters), along with several other shops in Maine.
