Al Bayt Stadium takes the overall form of a large nomadic tent built in the desert landscape of Qatar. It is another major stadium, ready for the FIFA World Cup football game to be held in the country next year.

The Al Bayt Stadium, designed by Dar Al-Handasah, is located in Al Khor City in the north of Qatar. It is one of the main stadiums of the World Cup, with a total capacity of 60,000 people. It will be used to host the first game and subsequent semi-final games.

The Supreme Council for Delivery and Heritage of Qatar stated that the design of the stadium was inspired by the Bayt al sha'ar tents used by nomads who have lived in the desert and surrounding areas of Qatar for thousands of years. The committee is responsible for hosting the World Cup. .

Its tent-like appearance comes from its exterior use of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), covering the structural steel frame. There is a retractable roof on top of the building, which can be opened or closed as needed to help reduce local heat.

"Traditionally, the tents of Qatari nomads and families can be identified by the black stripes on the unique appearance of the arena and the vibrant Sadhu pattern that greets fans once they enter the stadium," Qatar's Supreme Commission explained. heritage. "Visitors in Qatar can appreciate the traditional design of the area, and local fans remember the tradition they are proud of. In addition to being very eye-catching, the tent design is also very practical. The tent structure provides shade and retractability. The roof system complements the cooling technology of the stadium, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature without using any additional electricity."

After the World Cup, half of the stadium’s seats will be dismantled and reused in other sports facilities in Qatar and elsewhere. The upper area of the stadium will be transformed into a five-star hotel. At the same time, it is also planned to merge the shopping mall, food court, gym and multi-function hall into the main stadium building. In addition, the stadium complex will include a sports medicine hospital, a park, running and cycling trails, play areas, coffee shops and restaurants.

The project follows other stadiums that Qatar recently completed for the 2022 World Cup, including the Al Thumama Stadium and the 974 Stadium.
