YPSILANTI, MI -- You can enjoy music and food and watch a basketball game all while supporting the Ypsilanti community during the upcoming Soul League Block Party.

The event, hosted by 46th Chamber “People Commerce,” is set for noon to 4 p.m. every Saturday from July 16 to Aug. 13, at Apple Ridge Park at 2899 E Clark Road. Attendance is free and open to the public.

“I just want to give the kids an opportunity to come outside and play, backyard party style,” said MarShon Peoples, event organizer.

Block party attendees can watch sixth- through eighth-graders play in a basketball tournament that costs $50 per player. To register, visit here. Prize giveaways are also offered.

In addition to the basketball tournament, the block party is a vendor fair for local businesses to sell their products and gain exposure.

“If you have your own clothing line, set up a table,” Peoples said. “Whatever you do, come on out and set up a tent for the day.”

Vendor tables can be purchased for one, two or three events. Prices are $50 for one day, $75 for two days or $125 for three days. For questions regarding vendor tables email: peoplesunlimtedllc@gmail.com.

The 46th Chamber is an Ypsilanti organization that makes ideas become reality by providing local start-up businesses with resources to help them get off the ground, Peoples said.

All proceeds raised at the block party support the 46th Chamber and the community work it does, Peoples said.
