Willis and Crasto exchange wedding vows September 25 in Philadelphia | The Northside Sun

Mary Caroline Willis and David Walton Crasto Jr. were united in marriage on the evening of September 25 at First United Methodist Church in Philadelphia. The ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Chris Young.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Walter Lewis Willis of Philadelphia. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. John Martin Gartrell and the late Mr. Gartrell of Meridian, the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lee Gordon (Rae Ellen) of Philadelphia, and Mary Lewis Willis and the late Joe Louis Willis of Philadelphia.

The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. David Walton Crasto of Jackson. He is the grandson of Mrs. Natie Priestly Caraway and the late Mr. Caraway of Jackson,  Jeanne Brown Crasto of Madison, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lloyd Crasto of Mount Juliet, Tenn.

Music was presented by Laura Bryan, pianist; Patt Fiedler, organist; and Lisa Posey, vocalist. Scripture was read by Ellie Caraway.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a designer gown, featuring an ivory Italian macrame lace applique on the mesh bodice, illusion neckline and keyhole back, mermaid-style crepe skirt, and cathedral-length veil, trimmed with hand-beaded lace. Her bouquet, featuring Playa Blanca roses, Tibet roses, garden roses, hydrangeas, ranunculus, and seeded eucalyptus, was wrapped with an ivory satin ribbon. Tucked under the bouquet was a pearl crown from the wedding veil of the bride’s beloved late grandmother, Nana.    

Maid of honor was the bride’s future sister-in-law, Caroline Henson. Bridesmaids were Mary Acker, Sally Autry, Courtney Burrow, Addison Crowder, Emily Ellison, Mary Everett Little, Claudia Puhnaty, Maureen Maher, Rebecca Prince, Anna Miller Rebich, Ramsay Stayer, Laura Turner, Macy Walters, and Emma Kate Winstead. They wore strapless, dusk blue gowns of satin twill. Emmie Rome attended as flower girl.  

The bridegroom’s father was the best man. Groomsmen were Taylor Crasto and William Crasto, brothers of the groom, Joseph Willis, brother of the bride, Nick Black, Walker Brown, Anderson Bussey, Kirkland Hines, Daniel Hughes, Lee McCraney, Myles McGuire, Ben Nalty, and Patrick Stubbs. 

Program attendants were Taylor Allen and Jenna Hessels. The bride’s proxy was Miriam Seale.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at their family farm, Longino Farms. As guests arrived at the open pavilion, they were greeted with an assortment of hors d'oeuvres and music by the band Even Odds. After the bride and bridegroom’s introductory dances under a clear, lighted tent, guests were treated to a buffet, featuring traditional Southern favorites. 

The traditional five-tiered bride’s cake featured smooth buttercream frosting and a 10-inch tier with scroll piping and pearl dots. The bridegroom’s cake was designed as a replica of the Ole Miss baseball stadium.  

Following the reception, the newlyweds were chauffeured away in an antique Chevy Impala.

On the eve of the wedding, a bridal luncheon was hosted by the mother of the bride’s close friends. The bridegroom’s parents entertained with a sunset rehearsal dinner at Longino Farms. A bridegroom’s luncheon and a round of golf was held on the day of the wedding at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club. 

After a wedding trip to Maui, Hawaii, the couple currently live in Miami, where the bride is a sales executive with AT&T Business, and the bridegroom is a dermatology resident.
